Opening drawings in Jig — DXF and IFC files
Video walkthrough for this article has not been recorded yet — the written steps above are the full guide in the meantime.
Jig opens 29 file types directly in the browser — no download required to take a look. Two of the more technical ones are worth their own walkthrough:
- DXF (2D drawings) opens with lines, arcs, circles, text, and blocks intact, plus a layer panel on the side. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and use Fit to reset the view.
- IFC (3D building models, both IFC2x3 and IFC4) opens as a lit 3D model with a panel showing the project name and element counts (walls, doors, windows, and so on). Drag to orbit, shift-drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and Fit to reset. There's no click-to-inspect on individual elements yet — that's a future addition, not a current one.
A couple of things Jig does not open in the browser yet: Revit and Navisworks files (RVT, RFA, NWD, NWC) — export to IFC first and upload that instead — and DWG files, which are download-only for now rather than viewable in-page.
