Submitting a pay application

Video walkthrough for this article has not been recorded yet — the written steps above are the full guide in the meantime.

Pay applications live under Billing → Pay applications. Jig prints its own plainly worded version of the standard contractor's-application format — if your contract specifically calls for the licensed AIA document itself, copy the figures from Jig's form onto that one.

The form follows the same logic most owners and lenders already expect:

  1. Original contract sum, then net change from approved change orders, gives you the contract sum to date.
  2. Total completed and stored to date, less retainage (tracked separately for in-place work versus stored materials).
  3. That gives you total earned, less what you've already been paid on prior applications — Jig fills this in from your last certified application automatically; you can't type over it.
  4. The result is what's currently due.

Before you submit, a pre-signature panel shows you anything worth knowing first — unsigned lien waivers, trade partners with unpaid balances, liens of record, and any notices due or overdue for the period — so nothing surprising shows up after the fact.
